Idealis intends to close the flat bars Annie’s Kroeg, De Bunker, and De Woeste Hoeve in the Asserpark, Dijkgraaf, and Hoevestein flats for renovation and conversion into “common rooms.” As a result, the future of these flatpubs is uncertain. These iconic bars are essential to the student life in Wageningen and serve as a home for many students and student organizations. The abrupt closure of these three pubs signifies the end of a unique part of our student culture in Wageningen. Idealis is keeping everyone in the dark about the precise future plans without considering an alternative. Therefore, we want:
CLARITY
for the three flatpubs regarding their future and for all student organizations that host their activities here, so that all students, associations, and pubs know what the future holds!
CERTAINTY
for all students in Wageningen that this unique piece of student culture will persist. All students in Wageningen should have a place to gather with fellow students and organize their events in their way and safely. Entertainment venues in the city center and the current options on campus simply fall short.
We want to sit down with Idealis, the WUR, and the Wageningen municipality NOW to find a good solution that works for all students and all involved student organizations.
